Cambridge Satchel Company

Inspired by all of the colour on show this summer in the northern hemisphere, I have decided to dip my toe into the colour trend the easiest way possible and add a bright accessory to my collection.

Of course, I head straight for a handbag.....although I would love a PS1 Satchel, they are a little on the pricey side (around AUD$1200!). But I think that I have stumbled across a very worthy alternative from the Cambridge Satchel Company. Have a look at these gorgeous bags:

How divine, and for less than AUD$200 (for the smaller sizes) you can order your very own, custom made satchel delivered to Australia! You can even go further and have your initials monogramed on the front (for a small charge)- LOVE it.

They have a wide range of sizes and colours to choose from.

Now, I just have to decide which colour to order...my favourites are the red, yellow, apple green and purple shown above. They are all so perfect I am finding it hard to decide!

Let me know which colour is your favourite.

Miranda in LOVER at David Jones

Image via Lover's Facebook Page posted on Twitter today

You might remember this dress from a pervious post on Lover's Rosemount Sydney Fashion Week in May. Miranda of course looks amazing in it- but I just LOVE the Lover 'Lace Serpent' Dress (well actually any Lover garment really).

Miranda was in town to help  David Jones announce that they will be carrying amazing Australian brands Lover, Bassike and Carl Kapp (so excited). As well as international fashion brands Lanvin, Dries Van Noten and Victoria Beckham. Interestingly, the are also boasting the addition of Lily Allen's fashion brand Lucy in Disguise, this is a label I can't wait to have a look at!

David Jones had to come back fighting after the loss of Sass & Bide, and I think they have secured  a really interesting and covetable collection of new labels. Good news all round for Australia's fashion lovers.

DVF Pre Fall Looks

LOVE the 70's style. LOVE the colours. LOVE the knee high boots with socks.

10 Things that made me smile!

Shoestring Chic-101 Ways to Live the Fashionably Luxe Life for Less Kerrie Hess. I LOVE Kerrie Hess's amazing vintage fashion inspired illustrations, and I swooned over her stunning Melbourne apartment, complete with picture perfect family (not to mention a wardrobe to die for!) in the June/July edition of Harpers Bazaar . Kerrie is a true fashion lover, and I can't wait to read through her fashion on a shoestring secrets. I just ordered a copy through Booktopia- a steal at $18.75. This would make a gorgeous gift for a fashion loving friend, or as I see it the perfect addition to my growing book collection.

A lazy Saturday morning lie in. Much to my husband's annoyance, I don't really like sleeping in. I wake up at pretty much the same time of day every day of the week, especially now I am quite pregnant and not as comfortable lying in bed. But on Saturday I got up at the usual time, ate my breakfast  (as I was absolutely ravenous!) and then went back to bed. It was so nice, normally I get anxious that I am wasting the morning, but this time I grabbed my book and snuggled back under the doona and read until I had to get ready for Pilates.

Pregnancy Pilates. This was so much harder than I thought it was going to be! My leg and arm muscles are so sore, and it was such a  good stretch....really should have started doing this much earlier in my pregnancy. Oh well better late than never.

Scrambled Eggs with Vegies. Delicious and a easy way to incorporate more vegies into your diet, something I am making a concerted effort to do. I quickly whipped this up for lunch on Saturday, with red capsicum, spring onions, mushroom, cherry tomato, fresh parsley and chives from the garden.

Matchbook Magazines- Wardrobe Essentials. I love the idea of perfectly edited essentials that make up the backbone of your wardrobe. I feel a project coming on- perfect for post pregnancy wardrobe reorganising!

Health and Wellbeing Blogs. I have been reading these all weekend. There are so many out there, with so much useful health information and interesting healthy recipes- to my surprise I am also loving the inspirational and motivational posts as well.

Beautiful fruit for breakfast. Pineapple, honeydew melon, strawberries, thick  Greek natural yoghurt with a sprinkling of muesli on top. DELICIOUS

Sunday Lunch. Yesterday we went to Harvest in North Fremantle for a delicious Sunday lunch. Ben had a yummy slow cooked pork shoulder sandwich with pickled cabbage (I had a taste and it was to die for!) and I had a scrumptious Mushroom Risotto.   It is fast becoming my favourite meal of the week.

The Tour de France- and I am not just saying this because Cadel won! As I am mildly obsessed with all things Gallic, I just loved watching the beautiful towns, mountains and countryside of France in the background. And WOW-the competitors are truly amazing, they are so dedicated and focused- tres inspirateur.

My Topshop purchases arriving today- what a way to finish a Monday!

Have a great week x

10 Things that made me smile!

  1. Taking a road trip 'down south' (as it's called in Perth) to the amazing Margaret River region
  2. First stop was Leeuwin Estate for some tasting of their famous Art Series Chardonnay. As the 7 month pregnant designated driver, I enjoyed the amazing Australian art collection downstairs at Leeuwin- incredible, absolutely worth a visit.
  3. A long lunch at Vasse Felix with friends visiting from Melbourne. So, so delicious, and such a lovely way to spend a Sunday afternoon.
  4. Watching the beautiful sparkling ocean at Yallingup. Such a special part of the world- I just fall into a meditative state watching the waves roll in and the ocean glisten.
  5. Delicious breakfast by the sea at Sea Gardens, Prevelly Beach. What a view- the perfect way to savour a coffee and perhaps the best dark chocolate and berry muffin ever! We went back the next day and had breakfast their again it was so good.
  6. A homemade Chicken Pie with smashed carrots and peas from Jamie Oliver's 30 Minute Meals- Delicious and actually can be made in 30 mins!
  7. Getting home to my own bed after a long weekend away- LOVE.
  8. Discovering a cute new cafe near my work- Bench Espresso, Hay St, Perth. A fantastic latte that actually tastes like coffee and not just milk.
  9. Reading Aussie Harpers and Vogue cover to cover- got to love magazine subscriptions.
  10. B & I planning our next trip 'down south' in a months time for a week of R&R before 'mon bebe' arrives in September.
    Have a great week x

    Dior Couture- Fierce Beauty Looks

Photos by James Cochrane for Vogue UK

    Happy Friday!

    Image via Kate Spade Tumblr

We are packing up the car this weekend and heading down south to Gnarabup. Gnarabup is a tiny beach town 10 mins from Margaret River, with two of our friends from Melbourne. Can't wait to show them how beautiful it is in this region of Western Australia. It's sure to be a weekend full of good food, wine (unfortunately not for me!) and laughter.

Particularly looking forward to a delicious Sunday lunch at the divine Vasse Felix winery.

Hope you have a wonderful weekend xxxx

    Le Bump

Winter has well and truly arrived in Perth over the past week or so- and I was caught with no long sleeve tops that accommodate my rather large, 29 week old baby bump.

So far I have survived by working my way through my non-pregancy wardrobe, but now that my last top was snugly fitted on "le bump" (and short sleeve) I knew that it was time to concede defeat and buy some maternity tops.

And I tell you, once I got started I could not stop.....here is what I bought:

Mayreau - Ella Nursing / Maternity Wrap Top in Purple $79.95

Mayreau - Mia 3/4 Sleeve Nursing Top $89.95 (I bought in Heather Grey not blue as above)

Trimester Panache Jersey Wrap Blouse- Black $59.95 (On Sale!)

All of the tops above are from a fantastic Australian maternity website- Queen Bee. Queen Bee has a fantastic range of clothes, reasonable prices and best of all my purchases arrived within 24 hours. I can't tell you how excited I was, as I literally had nothing to wear to work the next day! Then all of a sudden I had options- I was so pleased with myself that I even preached to my husband that night "how did people live before online shopping!".

To make things even better the tops are all so comfortable to wear, with great fabric and very clever design features that will make them perfect to wear whilst feeding. Note: Never thought I would be so practical, very scary things happen to you when pregnant!

Anyway, chuffed from my Queen Bee purchases I headed to Topshop Maternity for more retail therapy. Now we all know Topshop is amazing- great fashion items that are up to the minute and the price points are even more amazing.

But there are two important things to remember- Number 1: Opposite seasons- make purchasing clothing for wearing now tricky, and Number 2: Delivery to Australia, although free over 75 Pounds, can take a while......like 3 weeks to Perth! So make sure you allow for delivery time.
Topshop Maternity Cream Contrast Cardigan- 40 Pounds

Topshop Maternity Cream Sheer Embroidered Blouse- 40 Pounds

Topshop Maternity White Grandad Shirt- 35 Pounds
and I couldn't resist a black pencil skirt from Topshop as well...

Topshop Maternity Black Pencil Skirt- 25 Pounds

So now I think it's time I put the credit card away! But if you are pregnant or know someone that is make sure you send through the links to Queen Bee and Topshop Maternity I have listed below xx

Photo by Tommy Ton for Style.com

Imagine seeing these gorgeous girls walking across the street! So inspiring to add some colour to your outfits- they all look like they are having so much fun.

I love the chambray shirt and yellow full skirt combination- gorgeous and fun, without trying too hard.

    What is your favourite outfit?

10 Things that made me smile....last week xx

Photo by Matt Irwin via visitvictoria.com.au
    Melbourne
My home town. It was lovely to come back and visit for a few days and enjoy, well, Melbourne being Melbourne. Loved the winter weather (including fog in the morning!), good coffee, people watching (oh how I miss the people watching), cosy café breakfasts with girlfriends, the city, gorgeous Carousel on Albert Park Lake (the Melbourne skyline looks so amazing at night across the lake) and most importantly catching up with my family, including lots of cuddles and laughter with my delicious niece and nephew.

Emilie by Gustav Klimt via National Gallery of Victoria
    Emilie by Gustav Klimt
I LOVE Klimt. Ever since I visited the Belvedere in Vienna and saw The Kiss I have been inspired by and in love with his work. So I couldn't  believe my timing, when I saw that  the current NGV Exhibition- Vienna featured some of his amazing works. My favourite piece on show was Emilie, a beautiful portrait of Klimt's Muse/ Lover. If you are in Melbourne make sure you visit the Vienna exhibition at NGV- such a lovely thing to do on a wintery Melbourne day. LOVE NGV.

    Decadent Afternoon Tea
I followed my visit to NGV with a gorgeously ladylike afternoon tea at the Langham- finger sandwiches, scones and delicate petit fours! What a way to spend a Monday afternoon- thanks to my little sister for the delightful company x

    Images via Mecca Cosmetica
    REN Skincare products from Mecca
I had the most gorgeous Saturday morning in Melbourne, getting primped and pampered before my sister in law's wedding. Blow dry at Shubui and make-up done at Mecca Cosmetica, with a yummy lunch with my big sister squeezed in between. My sister was the best company, and so patient sitting through these appointments and chatting with me in between hair washing and mascara application!  my lovely makeup artist at Mecca introduced me to two divine REN products Rose O2 Moisture Defence Serum and Lipovector Smoothing Contour cream- I am instantly head over heels. Will definitely be trying out a few more products from the range- amazing quality and really reasonable prices.

My new shoes! Image via Dolci Firme
Sky high heels from Dolci Firme
Now that I am 6 months pregnant clothes are just not bringing me as much joy as they usually do.  In fact, beautiful clothes can be a little depressing, as you know they are going nowhere near you! So for the wedding I compensated with some sexy, Bianca Buccheri sky high pumps  from Dolce Firme. God bless Italians and their shoe obsession.

How lush are these couches! Perfect for curling up with a good book and some magazines. I'm currently devouring The Elegance of the Hedgehog.

    Allure Magazine
It has been a little while since I have bought Allure, but over the weekend I picked up a copy and read it cover to cover. Such a great mag- LOVE Allure.

    Homemade Museli
So delicious, a little bit decadent and perfect for a cold weekend morning when you don't want to go out of the house to get breakfast. I made mine with oats, almonds, hazelnuts, coconut, sunflower seeds and toasted with honey- then added chopped dried apricots and dark chocolate. Serve with warm milk. Yum.

    Pre Fall Handbags
I love a good handbag. Call me shallow, but nothing brings a smile to my face quicker than a gorgeous bag (except maybe chocolate). The PS1 Satchel is delightful winter colours and the Mulberry Push Polly Lock are my current obsessions.

    Mad Men 4
Over the weekend I picked up the DVD of Mad Men 4, I can't wait to be transported back to 5th Avenue and see what happens next with Don and Betty, as well as the gorgeous outfits, hair and makeup!

Meow- Freja the Cat for Chanel

Carine Roitfeld’s styling of Freja Beha Erchsen for Chanel’s A/W 11 ad campaign- so cute!
What a way to bring some new life to the Chanel's ad campaigns- so fun and Parisian.

Sorry for the lack of blogging, I have been back in Melbourne and have been rushing to catch up on work and sleep since - I have lots to post over the next few day xxx
