Winter Skin SOS- Lancome

Introducing my new favourite skincare products- Lancome Genifique Youth Activator and Recharge Yeux Multi-Lift. I must admit is has been a while since I have used any Lancome products. I used their Teint Idole Foundation religiously for many years in my early twenties, but their eye creams where always a mainstay of my beauty routine until in recent years I have brand hopped from Dermalogica to Quinot, and more recently REN.

In a moment of impulse shopping a few weeks ago I found myself at the Lancome counter at David Jones, and before I knew it I had purchased a Hypnose Mascara- Lancome's #1 selling mascara world wide (I agree with the masses. It's a really good mascara- lots of kohl and a great brush for getting to the base of lashes and into the corners of the eye) and the Recharge Yeux Multi-Lift cream.

The lovely Lancome consultant put a number of samples in bag for me to try, and lucky for me one of the samples was Genifique (great samples size that lasted 7 days). Oh how I love a serum- and this one is an absolute winner. I must admit I was a sceptic, but this serum was the little boost of hydration my dry winter ravaged skin needed. It's hard to put your finger on exactly what this potion does, but my skin feels hydrated, soft and toned. What is not to love about that?

This started some in depth trials of other serums for comparison- enter Adore Beauty's genius Serum Sampler (check it out here). After trying Ole Henriksen's Truth Serum (very good as well), SK II Facial Treatment Essence and Alpha- H Liquid Gold- I saw myself reaching for my second sample of Genifique. I am officially converted.

Recharge Yeux Multi-Lift Cream has been a fantastic purchase, the skin around my eyes has taken a beating over the past year, with Baby M being a little slow to sleep through the night! But this eye cream absolutely hydrates, firms and generally works wonders to lift the appearance of the eye area.

Big Hugs to Lancome xx

Collette by Collette Dinnigan

Dreaming of the gorgeous Collette Dinnigan gowns in my last post, I have gone in search of some gorgeous Summer dresses that are a little suited to my wardrobe. That is more affordable and more day dress styles, as sadly don't get out as much at night as I used to!

I didn't have to go far when I stumbled across Collette by Collette Dinnigan. Absolutely divine and prices are a few hundred rather than a few thousand.

Here are my favourites- thinking of pre-ordering one on Frockaholics....just have to decide between looks 3,4 and 5 below. Gorgeous.

Hooray for J.Crew!

Last month J.Crew announced that they were finally opening up their online store to Australia- kicking off with free shipping for the month of April! The offer has now been extended to May 30th, so it is the perfect excuse to get online and stock up on gorgeous knitwear, shirts and classic ballet flats. My pick is the Tippi Sweater (just bought on and it's on very high rotation) and anything from their collaboration with Altuzarra. The images on this post are all from the Altuzuzarra collection- all so wearable and very reminiscent of iconic movie stars- I think I can see a little Brigitte, Audrey and Marilyn in these pieces. LOVE.

Bonjour mon amis

Bonjour!

I'm back again after a long break in communication, I can't believe my last post was on January 25th! Things have been a little crazy here with a amazing overseas trip, short trip back to Melbourne for Easter and lots of Mamma time with Bebe M (now 7 months). But now settling back into real life, I can't wait to start posting again and hope that you all enjoy reading them.

You might have noticed a change in the look of Need, Want & Love, and hopefully it will make it more interesting to look at and read.  I am working on a few more changes so stay tuned xx

Christian Dior Couture S/S 12

Image via Style.com
How incredible is the red dress above from Christian Dior's latest couture collection! Just heavenly- that is what couture is all about. The hair and make-up look for the collection was equally as sophisticated and elegant- I love the dramatic eyeliner and the tres chic coiffed bob. Polished and gorgeous, almost tempting me to cut off my long hair x

New Years Resolution #1- Pilates

Image via Abi and Joseph

Much like everyone else, I have made a new years resolution to dedicate more time to looking after myself- move more, eat less processed food etc etc. I won't bore you with the finer details, but one focus for 2012 is on Pilates.

After having Baby M in late September I had some intense sacroiliac joint pain, so bad that for the first few weeks I had difficulty walking and ended up at the physio for weekly treatments. After waiting 6 weeks to be able to walk longer than 10 mins each day(!- so frustrating to not be able to go to for a short walk around the block) my physio recommended that I start clinical Pilates. The classes are fantastic, with a maximum of 3 people in the class, you run through your personalised program under the watchful eye of the Pilates instructor, who is  also a qualified Physio. After two months I am completely hooked.

So to look the part- very important! I had to splurge on some new workout clothes, and I wanted to share with you my favourite labels. The first one is Australian label Abi & Joseph , that has absolutely perfect pieces for working out but you can also wear around the house or down for a coffee and not be embarrassed to be seen in, which I find is usually the case with traditional "gym" clothes. Here is a selection of Abi & Joseph items that I am looking to purchase, and many of the items are going to be coming with me when I travel to Europe in March- absolutely perfect as travel wear as they are comfortable, dry quickly and roll up nice and small in your suitcase. So glad that I stumbled across www.abiandjoseph.com- check it out.

My usual go to store for work out clothes, and I must admit it is now my firm favourite, is Lululemon. It does tend to be a little on the pricey side but I have found that their clothing lasts and lasts- which is so important with gym gear as it gets washed a million times. When I was in Melbourne over Christmas I splurged and bought the Hot n Sweaty Crop Pants and Power Y Tank (both shown below) and they have been perfect for exercising in the hot weather here in Perth.

So many other great workout clothes in Lululemon, and I have just realised that there is a store just near me in Cottesloe! Check out their website, you can order from the US for slightly cheaper than in store but I do find the Lululemon staff extremely helpful, especially when trying to convert from Canadian sizing.

Having cute clothes to exercise in does increase motivation levels I find- much more appealing than a old grey (once white) T shirt and faded old leggings. Definitely worth every cent if they help get you moving I say.

Have a great Wednesday x
